I finally got around to installing my dash rings. Any time there is talk of having to manually fit/mould things myself, it does make me a little anxious. I am happy to say though it was actually easy and the first job in living memory that took me less time than I expected.
I took the time to label each of my rings with masking tape so I wouldn't mix them up once I started bending them. I also marked my dash with masking tape at the middle section of each curve so that I would be consistently placing the ring back in exactly the same orientation each time as I slowly bent it into shape. I used a small wooden rolling pin on a table; placed my ring down on it and while pushing down on the ring, slowly moved it left and right; rolling the pin underneath it. It produced a great curve and after a few test fits and re-rolls; the results were perfect! They are comfortably seated with just a push fit. No glue required.
I was replacing some old glued on plastic faded and cracked rings that were on there from a previous owner from over 12 years ago. These new ones look great and should last forever. Also I didn't realize how dirty my dash was until I took it out and had to clean the glue off. Now it looks super clean and I am going to need to clean the rest of my panels to match.
